Course Description

Figure Drawing is a studio art course studying the human figure through drawing. Students will hone their drawing skills through in-class drawing exercises and out of class assignments. Students will draw from draped and undraped professional models during class. There will be an emphasis on technical and artistic proficiency and growth.

Course Goals

Each student should:

  • develop a more thorough understanding of drawing from life through regular practice drawing the human figure,
  • implement drawing as a regular exercise,
  • create competent works of art with the guidance of the course projects, and
  • engage in critical discussion of work with course-mates during critiques and throughout the semester.
